Tybee Island Pirate Festival
The warm summer breezes have become little more than a memory. With the onslaught of October, creaking planks, wind blowing the sails and the chants of pirates fill the Tybee air. October 8th-11th visitors and locals alike can celebrate the days of yore as Tybee Island turns into a pirate village!
The Tybee Island Pirate Fest began in 2005 with the hard work of passionate volunteers. After such an amazing success with the first event, it is no wonder how it has grown into one of Tybee’s largest and most swashbuckling festivals! Every Columbus Day Weekend local pirates and those from far distant lands converge on our small island for a weekend of music, food, and of course grog. Young pirates are welcome too! We have Little Matey’s Cove which is sure to entertain and of course they will not want to miss our 11th Annual Pirate Victory Parade! With the support of the City of Tybee Island, many of our local businesses, generous corporate sponsors, and volunteers, this event promises to entertain the most discerning pirates.
Our Thieves’ Market serves as the heart of our Pirate Village where Treasure Hunters will find all the booty that their heart’s desire! As the moon begins to rise over the Tybee waters, the evening will grow more raucous as we call all pirate’s to the main stage to enjoy some amazing live music. On Friday evening, festival goers will revel in the high energy music of Big Engine then dance into the night with the Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love. On Saturday evening, we bump it up a notch as we welcome Mini Kiss and the island rhythms of Junior Marvin’s Wailers.
On behalf of SEBAR, I am pleased to welcome old friends as well as many new faces to escape the ordinary… if only for the weekend at the 11th annual Tybee Island Pirate Fest. This bulletin is your guide to all of the events happening throughout the island. Many of our local businesses are hosting special events in addition to those found within the festival grounds. Make sure to stop by and visit them as well.
Thank you for joining us.
May a good time be had by all!
Fare ye well.
