Tybee Pier & Pavilion

Tybee Pier & Pavilion

The Tybee Pier & Pavilion is located just off U.S. Highway 80 at the end of Tybrisa Street. Great location for fishing and people watching. Besides its spectacular view and great fishing location it s also a meeting place used for dances musical performances and special events. On the premises are picnic tables snack bar and public restrooms. Various festivals and events held here throughout the year. Open daily. Free admission. The pavilion can be rented for weddings family reunions and other social functions.

The original Tybrisa Pier & Pavilion stood for three-quarters of a century as a landmark on the South Atlantic Ocean. Built in 1891 by the Central of Georgia Railroad it became a well-known destination for day-trippers and seasonal visitors during a time when advertisements hailed Tybee as the Premier South Atlantic Resort. Its open dance floor amid a coastal setting made it a legendary stop on the Big Band tour and for five decades of entertainers. Fire destroyed it in 1967. Led by efforts of the people of Tybee Island Chatham County built the Tybrisa Pavilion II and dedicated it on the 9th of August 1996.

The Tybee Pier and Pavilion has become one of the premier entertainment centers in Chatham County.

How can I reserve the pier and pavilion for a wedding and reception?

I checked the Chatham county parks and rec website, but I am not sure if I would be able to have a cookout there? Would I provide my own grills or bring food since there were no grills listed at the site? Also, alcohol is okay?

    Thank you!

Vivian, I do not think grills are okay but I would imagine some alcohol would be. But then again there is a bar on the pier and they may not want to step on their toes. You may need to call and get the full rules: contact the Park Services Office 912-652-6780

Hi. What is the parking situation? Can we rent a parking lot or would our guest have to find parking on their own?

Hi. What is the parking situation like? We want to have a ceremony there but are unsure if we can if there is not parking. Is there a parking lot we can rent or is everyone on their own when looking for parking?

Hi Cedric, parking is parking on the island. On the weekends its tough but I can usually find something. I may have to walk a block or two but i can find it. The weekdays are not that bad. No you can not rent a parking lot since the Island is a public beach. You can buy day passes from the city but you still would need to find a spot on your own. Pretty much it all depends on what time of year and what time of day you have the ceremony on.

There are no picnic tables on the beach nor can you grill on the beach. You may want to consider Memorial park where there are grills and covered pavilions for use. Find more info here: Click Here

What about a small birthday party for a 3 year old, are the pinic tables first come first serve for that as well or is a permit needed?

Hello…Am I reading this correctly…… the pier/pavillion on Tybee can be rented for a wedding???
I thought it was a public place, like a park, and couldn’t be rented…..but it can???
I am looking for a beach venue for my daughter’s wedding next year.
We love that area and have visited Tybee many times.
    Could you send info?
    Thank you very much,
    Canton, Georgia

I have seen different people on the pier dancing, singing, hula hooping, or just sitting at a table and playing the guitar, do these people. Have to have permits to do this ? Or is it ok if nothing is going on to just sit and sing,
