King Scullen Bones & Queen Amelia
In 2009 Tybee Fest has voted to honor Cullen Chambers as Pirate King and Amy Gaster as Pirate Queen. Cullen has served as the executive director of the Tybee Island Historical Society since 1994. He oversaw the restoration of the entire Tybee Island light station and has received several prestigious honors for it. Amy Gaster is co-owner and President of Tybee Vacation Rentals which is celebrating 10 years in business in 2010, a founding member of Tybee Fest and former board member of the organization. Amy also serves on the board, along with Cullen, of the Tybee Island Tourism Council. They are both very active members of the community. Witness their coronation at the Buccaneer Ball on October 8, 2009 at The Crab Shack.

2008
King Jimmy Price & Queen Natalie Gordon
The 2008 honorees were Jimmy Price as King and Natalie Gordon as the Pirate Queen. Jimmy Price is well known on Tybee as the Chief of Police. So be warned he definitely knows how to defend his “crown”. Natalie owns the Atlantis Inn, a themed room hotel on Tybee, and she currently serves on the board of the Tybee Island Tourism Council.

2007
King Jiggs Watson & Queen Bonnie Gaster
In 2007, TybeeFest selected Bonnie Gaster and Jiggs Watson as their Pirate King and Queen. Bonnie is a well known real-estate broker on Tybee Island for Prudential SE Coastal Properties. Bonnie is also the mother of the 2009 Pirate Queen, Amy Gaster. Jiggs owns Tybee Island Insurance and is the organizer of the wet and wild Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade. If you haven’t heard of it the Beach Bum Parade is a water fight parade that is held each May on Tybee Island for the last 20+ years.

2006
King Gene Kindrick & Queen Debbie Brady Robinson
In 2006, TybeeFest chose Gene Kindrick and Debbie Brady Robinson as their Pirate King and Queen. Gene was the long time commander of American Legion Post 154 on Tybee Island. Debbie is a well know local artist and owner of Atlantic Beacon Gallery and Hall of Frames. Debbie also currently serves on the Tybee Island Tourism Council.

2005
King Jack Flanigan & Queen Jenny Orr
For the 1st Annual Pirate Fest event Organizers reached out to Jack Flanigan to be their Pirate King and Jenny Orr for Queen. Jack owns The Crab Shack, which is an incredibly popular seafood restaurant on the island known as “Where the elite eat in their bare feet.” The Crab Shack also held the inaugural Buccaneer Ball in 2008 and will host it again this year. Also, that is a real parrot he is holding in the picture. Jenny Orr is the owner of two restaurants on Tybee Island, Fannie’s and Marlin Monroe’s. Fannies is located on the south end of Tybee, directly bordering the festival grounds and has a great view of all of the action.
Tybee Island Pirate Fest has been named one of Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events for the month of October 2009. The best events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 designation.
3rd Annual Saint Augustine Pirate Gathering Nov. 12th-14th
Tybee Island Pirate Festival won the applause of GEORGIA Magazine readers in the magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards contest, as published in its October 2009 issue. In the contest, loyal readers nominated their favorite Georgia people, places and things. Tybee Island Pirate Festival won in the Annual Event category.
