Tybee Island Wedding Chapel Expansion Allows Accommodation of More Guests for Weddings

Owners Welcome Tourism Industry VIP’s to Cut the Ribbon on June 5th

Enclosure of Downstairs Area Adds 2000+ Square Feet of Climate Controlled Space

Tybee Island, Georgia – June 1, 2012 – The Tybee Island Wedding Chapel, the premier wedding facility on Tybee Island and the newest wedding and reception facility in the Savannah/Coastal area, has significantly expanded the space available for guests of weddings and events by adding over 2,000 square feet of climate controlled (heated in winter and cooled in summer) space to accommodate a larger guest list. Chapel occupancy is 180, but the new space allows for greater flexibility for a reception or party. On Tuesday June 5th the Chapel will welcome Kevin Langston, Deputy Commissioner for Tourism of Georgia Department of Economic Development and other VIP’s for a ribbon and cake cutting for the lower level addition at 1:30 p.m.

“Many of our guests will use the Sanctuary for the ceremony itself, and then have a cocktail party on the veranda, and usher everyone into the new space for dinner,” said Ray Anaya, Director of Events for Tybee Island Wedding Chapel & Events. “After dinner, the guests can head back up to the Sanctuary for the cake-cutting and dancing.”

The additional space features the original windows that were used when the Chapel was featured as a prop in a movie filmed on Tybee. It was also designed to be an almost blank canvas for decorators. For example, columns throughout the space have conveniently placed hooks from which to hang flowers or other décor to suit the style of the wedding. Crystal dome lighting mirrors the Chapel’s décor and sophistication.

“The expansion really gives the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel the ability to offer any bride the chance to have the wedding of her dreams,” said Ray Ananya, the Chapel Director. “Now there’s room to for everything she wants to make her wedding a truly perfect day. After all, it’s not just another event.  To the bride, groom and their families, it’s one of the most important milestones in their lives.”

The grounds around the Chapel, which overlook the Tidewater Creek are frequently used for expanded dinner parties or larger cocktail events, giving yet another option for entertaining wedding and event guests. Tybee Island Wedding Chapel & Events provides parking attendants, a full caterer kitchen, tables and chairs at no charge for up to 180, and an audio-visual system. The Savannah area is renowned for some of the nation’s top wedding professionals and vendors for catering, flowers, decorations, cakes, dresses and gowns, photography and accommodations for guests.

The owners of the Chapel, Stacye and Lannie Jarrell, who also own Oceanfront Cottage Rentals, created this venue as a way to further establish Tybee as a year-round wedding destination for regional brides. Stacye Jarrell, “This island is perfect 12 months out of the year for brides. Our mild winters, make it equally ideal to any other season. When brides see the Chapel, they fall in love. It’s where they want to have the most important day of their lives. This is so rewarding for us.” During their Grand Opening in August of 2011 the Jarrells welcomed David Tutera, the world’s top wedding designer. Tutera said, “I thought New York and L.A. had it all for the best of the best for weddings. But this trip has shown me that such potential and creativity is thriving here on Tybee. This Chapel is amazing. I am blown away by the attention to detail, the setting and the kind people on the island. I plan to come back for vacation as soon as I can.”
