Several island eateries will open their doors Christmas Day to gift the public with lovingly-prepared dishes. If you’d like to skip out on the Christmas dinner dash and share that special day with the ones you love over a delicious plate of food made by hands other than yours, head to these Tybee restaurants for a holiday meal to remember.
Bernie’s Oyster House
Forget the Christmas ham and do holiday dinner island style with crab, shrimp, fish and oysters. Tybee’s beloved oyster house will be open Christmas Day from 12 to 7 pm, ready to serve up a steaming heap of your favorite seafood staples. Gift yourself with oysters prepared your way – fried, raw, steamed or baked. Bernie’s also offers an impressive array of sandwiches, soups and so much more. They’ve got all the goods to make your Christmas holiday even merrier.
Lighthouse Pizza North
Who doesn’t love a good pizza any time of year? Break Christmas tradition with a hand-tossed pie made in-store with Authentic Tybee Dough. Lighthouse Pizza will be open on the holiday from 5 to 10 pm ready for hungry families who find pizza to be the ultimate Christmas present. Dine in or take your freshly-made pie home with you to share with those you love. And add wings, cinnamon sticks or a blueberry cheesecake calzone too!
For those whose Christmas Day cheer involves a little holiday libation, the bar at Huc-A-Poos’ will open at regular hours on the holiday. The kitchen will open later at 4, so you can enjoy your favorite bites and booze on that most wonderful time of the year.
Rock House Bar & Grill
Turn up the fun factor on your Christmas holiday with a meal at the Rock House Bar & Grill, a place where the party doesn’t stop. Open from 11 am to 3 am – yes, you read it right – Rock House is the perfect venue with an appetizing menu to spice up your Christmas with an extra dose of holiday cheer. Enjoy any of their seafood and classic Americana dishes, and have a good time. With billiards tables, games and great drink specials, the Rock House is a great choice for an unconventional Christmas dinner or an awesome afterparty.
Snow is an unlikely event on Tybee Island, but you can capture that frosty feeling with a flavorful frozen daiquiri from Wet Willie’s. Their Tybrisa Street location will be open from 5 pm to 12 am, serving up Christmas Day cold ones and low-key plates for a casual holiday dining experience. Expect some delicious specials too!
