Come one, come all, to the 2017 Buccaneer Ball! Join us for an evening of dancing, frivolity, and food! The Crab Shack hosts the kickoff to the 13th annual Tybee Island Pirate Fest, a weekend full of swashbuckling fun for all! The Buccaneer Ball boasts grub and grog like only The Crab Shack can provide, and of course, a bounty of pirates and wenches!


NEW! The Buccaneer Ball will be hosted by Dungeon Dan BlackHart, Kruel Kathy BlackHart and the lovely Lady Lindsey Lee!

This event is open only to pirates and wenches age 18 and up.

The Buccaneer Ball will feature NEW entertainment, grub & grog, a costume contest, and more!

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL! Tickets are $40 per person until September 1st.

Tickets are $45 per person from September 2nd- October 1st.

Tickets are $50 October 2nd – 4th. Online ticket sales end at 11:59pm on October 4th.

Tickets at the door on October 5th will be $50, if available.

Early check in will be available on October 5th from 12pm – 4pm at The Gift Shack. Beat the lines at the door by checking in early! You must arrive in person and present your photo ID to check in early, and we must wristband you at the time you check in. We are not able to hand out wristbands without seeing ID to verify age, and we cannot allow someone to pick up wristbands for another person- unless they want an “Under 21- Do Not Serve” wristband.

2017 Buccaneer Ball Costume Contest!

  • Submit full length, in-costume photos by email to[email protected] no later than Thursday September 28th
  • Voting takes place on Facebook between September 29th – October 1st
  • Person from each category with the most “likes”/votes is the winner
  • Winners will be contacted by phone and email on October 2nd and must respond by October 3rd


Costume Contest winners will be determined on Facebook! There will be three categories: “Best Buccaneer”, “Best Wench”, and “Best Pirate Couple”. 1 “Like” = 1 Vote, so you can campaign for yourself and get your friends, family, and even strangers to vote for you! To enter, email a full length photo of yourself (or yourself and your partner, for Best Pirate Couple) IN YOUR COSTUME to [email protected]. Your photo will be uploaded to the appropriate photo album on The Official Crab Shack Page: Best Buccaneer, Best Wench, or Best Pirate Couple on September 29th when voting begins. Then, it is up to you to generate votes for yourself! Share the photo album link on your Facebook page and through email asking people to “like” your photo- the photo in each album with the most “Likes” wins! Voting will end on Sunday, October 1st, and you can start campaigning as soon as the photo albums are posted on September 29th! The winners will be presented at the Buccaneer Ball, and prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category!




  • Last year’s 2016 costume contest winners ARE eligible to win the contest this year, due to the contest being cancelled due to the rescheduled date.
  • Costume Contest winners must be present at the Buccaneer Ball to win, and will be disqualified if they have not purchased a ticket to the Buccaneer Ball by the time voting ends on October 1st.
  • The submitted full length photo must be of you in the costume you will be wearing to the Ball.
  • You must provide a phone number when submitting your photo through email, so that we have a way to contact you if you are the winner. If we do not have a way to contact you, or you are the winner and we have not had a response from you by October 3rd , you will be disqualified.
  • Yes, you may enter as “Best Pirate Couple” if you and your partner and also entering as “Best Wench” and “Best Buccaneer”.

Event FAQ


Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

All attendees will be required to show a valid photo ID to gain entrance to the Buccaneer Ball.  No one under the age of 18 will be admitted.


Can I bring my pet dog/bird/cat/lizard/etc?

Pets are not permmited at the Buccaneer Ball, so Fido and Polly will have to sit this event out.  Even comfort animals won’t find much comfort here due to the cannon firings and possbile black powder weapons fired.  If you must bring your animal you will have to sit in the public portion of the restaurant and you will not be able to participate in the private, ticketed Buccaneer Ball.


What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?

The Crab Shack offers ample, FREE, off street parking on premises.  While we do not provide transportation to and from the event, there are many cab companies on Tybee and in Savannah that can provide transporation to and from your location.


What can/can’t I bring to the event?

DO bring: pirate garb, pirate attitude, pirate lingo, valid photo ID

DON’T bring: children or anyone under the age of 18, pets,outside food or drinks

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No, registration/ticket transfers are not allowed.  The name on your registration MUST match the name on your valid photo ID.


Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you can update the registration information.  Please be sure to provide each individuals name and each individuals valid email address.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No.  Printed tickets are not necessary.  We will have a registration/ticket list and we will verify each attendees valid photo ID with the information provided.  The name on your registration must match your photo ID.


What is the refund policy?

The Buccaeer Ball is a rain or shine event, and ticket sales are final. Refunds will only be offered in the event of an Act of God.


The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?

No!  It is very important that the information provided at the time tickets are purchased matches the name on your valid photo ID. If you are purchasing tickets for multiple people, be sure to provide each individuals name.  We cannot admit those whose name on their photo ID differs from the name on the ticket.


Why do you need each individual’s name and email address?

If you purchase tickets for multiple people, you must provide each individual’s name. The names provided must match each person’s valid photo ID to be admitted to the Buccaneer Ball.  If you don’t know at the time of purchase who your companion will be, you can provide a name at a later time by emailing [email protected]
