It’s a new monthly movie event at the Post! Date Night Noir will feature some of the hottest classic films that got couples cuddling through the generations. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll sigh! You’ll remember that special night you first saw that film together on the big screen.
So, for the first Date Night of the year, how about “Chinatown!” Jack Nicholson is the private detective, JJ ‘Jake’ Gittes, hired by Evelyn Mulwray when she suspects her husband Hollis, builder of the city’s water supply system, of having an affair. Gittes does what he does best and photographs him with a young girl but in the ensuing scandal, it seems he was hired by an impersonator and not the real Mrs. Mulwray. And Jake is plunged into a complex web of deceit involving murder, incest and municipal corruption all related to the city’s water supply.
“You get tough. You get tender. You get close to each other. Maybe you even get close to the truth.”
Don’t have a date? Don’t need one! See you at the movies!
Your $10 ticket gets you the movie, a complimentary glass of wine and a “kiss.”
