November 30- December 2, 2018 – The Tybee Tourist is hosting an “Island of Misfits: Healthy Recovery Weekend” for those who are focused on self-improvement as they work through a 12-Step Program. The event will be held at Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island and offers dormitory stay or significant cottage discounts by Mermaid Cottages of Tybee Island. Registration (no overnight) for the event is $25 for the weekend. For those wishing to stay in the dormitory for the weekend, the cost is $75 total (includes registration). For those who wish to register for the event and stay in a Mermaid Cottage, the discount code will be sent after registration is completed. A number of min-workshops are planned for the weekend: ” Focus on Essential Oils”, “Make Your Own Mala or Talisman Necklace”, and ” Wellness and Resolutions for 2019” are just a few. Speakers will include certified recovery counselors, attorneys, representatives of local and state support services and much more. In addition, participants will have the unique opportunity to participate in the annual “Lights On Tybee” on December 30, 2018, when Tybee Mayor, Jason Buelterman lights the holiday tree and community artists perform (music and dancing) and a cameo from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
