Let’s call it 8 pm at the Oasis! Maria Muldaur, the Grammy-nominated American folk, roots and blues singer is live on our stage at our own oceanside oasis. Yes, Pirate’s Fest is entertaining the South End, but we’ve got a ‘70s superstar taking us on a journey back to our carefree youth (well, some of us!)
Beginning her career as a member of the Even Dozen Jug Band (also featuring John Sebastian and David Grisman), Muldaur was a staple in the Greenwich Village folk revival of the early 1960’s. In 1973, her first solo album included the mega hit “Midnight at the Oasis,” one of the most memorable songs of the 1970’s. Her second album included the hit anthem, “I’m A Woman.”
But here’s something you don’t know. Muldaur, has since released over forty albums exploring a range of American Roots Music, including blues, jazz, R&B, gospel, big band and others as well as releasing several award-winning children’s albums. Albums, that combined have been granted six Grammy nominations and several Blues Music Award nominations.
In the process, Maria has collaborated with everyone from Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Stevie Wonder, Hoagy Carmichael, Grateful Dead and countless others. This fall, she’s on a national tour, supporting her first new album in five years “Don’t you Feel my Leg,” a tribute to Blue Lu Barker.
Friday, Oct. 5, 8 pm Maria Muldaur Live! Tickets $20/$25 premium
