4th of July Events not to be missed!

No plans yet for the 4th of July? Come on out to Tybee and celebrate America’s Independence Day island style! Here’s our list of Tybee events you won’t want to miss. From art shows to movies, concerts to fireworks there’s something for everyone at Savannah’s Beach.

Saturday July 2nd

We start of with that classic summer thriller,  “JAWS” on the big screen Saturday, July 2 at both 3 pm and 7 pm at the Tybee Post Theater! It’s the movie that kept folks out of the water for years! But we’re not scared of any stinkin’ sharks on Tybee! Adults $7, children, $5.

Big Engine will be playing on Tybee Island’s Pier & Pavilion on July 2nd at 7:30-11 pm. These road warriors travel the country, bringing the party with crowd favorites: “That Girl’s a Freak,” “Turn It On,” “Shake That Thing,” “Party Like A Rockstar” and “Sister Mary.” They’ve shared the stage with Buckcherry, Motorhead, Bret Michaels, Vince Neil, Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, Ted Nugent, Jackyl, Shooter Jennings, and countless other national acts so you know this is going to be a great show!

Sunday July 3rd

Markets at the Lighthouse

Start your Sunday off right with the Market at the Lighthouse on the 6th from 10am to 4pm. There are some new vendors coming out along with all the regular favorites.  From fossil art to handmade soaps, there really is something for everyone. Come on out and see what you’ve been missing!

Last of the Red Hot Lovers at the Tybee Post Theater

Check out the Tybee Post Theaters monthly Savannah Songwriters Series — four singer-songwriters in the round swapping songs and telling stories, at 7 pm. We’re dark for the 4th so everyone can enjoy the fireworks and festivities on the beach. Only $10.

Monday July 4th

Tybee New Years Celebration

Tybee Island’s Fireworks display will be held on July 4th this year.  This is one of the busiest days of the year for our beach so make sure you get an early start. Parking spaces fill up fast! The Fireworks begin around dark thirty (9:15pm) and are staged on the pier. The display is so spectacular you can see it from pretty much anywhere on the island.

Tuesday July 5th

Who doesn’t love a good summer beach read? Author Mary Kay Andrews will be at Seaside Sisters Tuesday July 5th 1-4pm signing copies of her latest book The Weekenders#3 New York Times best seller!”. Bring your copy or buy one for the first time in the shop.  The signing takes place from 1 to 4pm. Raffles, trunk shows, photo booth, and Sweetie Pie treats! You’re coming, right?

We launch this special weekly series with “Turtle: The Incredible Journey.” It’s at 7 pm. Suggested donation of $5 to benefit the Post and Gray’s Reef.

We hope you all have a great 4th of July weekend on Tybee Island!
