On May 21st, the Tybee community and visitors can hear a free concert by the Cynergy band! Their performance will be from 5:30 to 7pm, at the circle near the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, where Tybrisa Street meets the Strand. Bring your lawn chairs or beach towels, if you wish. Tybee allows you to have an adult beverage in a plastic cup on the beach and other public areas, so indulge if you so desire. You can dine in (or carry out) at one of the restaurants nearby (including Fannie’s, Spanky’s, Tybee Tymes, Bernie’s, the Wind Rose, Beach Bites, Seaside Sweets, the Rock House, Bennie’s, and AJ’s Beachside). There are also several gift shops in the area, so you can look for some souvenirs to take home with you. This event is part of the Third Thursdays on Tybee program sponsored by the Tybee Island Development Authority / Main Street Program. It’s sure to be a good time for all ages!
The Cynergy band consists of Bob and Judy Williams and their son Zachary. They play a potpourri of traditional, Celtic and original tunes and a sprinkling of more contemporary folk and folk-rock music from the 1960s-90s. Bob and Judy have performed locally for over two decades and are delighted to have their son join them when possible. They have been featured at the Savannah Folk Music Festival, the Night In Old Savannah event, the Forsyth Festival, and other public performances.
Judy is a consummate guitarist who also plays the bass (with the Glow In The Dark Stringband), bouzouki, and the bodhran. She is a strong female tenor and has sung with the Handel Choir of Baltimore, and with the Savannah Symphony Chorale. Bob began playing the hammered dulcimer about 25 years ago and also plays guitar, sings, and bends a few notes on the harmonica. Zach is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. They are well-known for their musical abilities and for being an all-round nice family.
We hope you come to the concert, relax, and enjoy the music……
