TYBEE ISLAND BOOK FESTIVAL SET TO DEBUT SEPTEMBER 18-19TH 2015
Tybee Islanders know that great stories turn up at the beach, that inspiration is found in salt water and sea breezes. And so it is with proud enthusiasm that the island community premiers its first book festival.
Riding a wave of inspiration, local children’s book author Elaine Duree, has made it her mission to create a family-friendly event to celebrate and support authors from all over the globe. The festival is unique in that it accepts submissions from non-traditionally and traditionally published authors, and with no submission fee. Author submissions are selected then seen as eligible to win a TIBAward, presented during the opening ceremony. Approximately three dozen authors will be featured during the main event on Saturday September 19th. The deadline for authors to submit is May 15.
Duree, a devoted mother of four, chose The Fresh Air Home to be the venue for this weekend long event. The Fresh Air Home is loyal to improving the lives of underprivileged children. There is beach access, a pavilion, a playground, and for the finale, a delicious Low Country Boil, giving visitors a taste of Tybee life.
