Tybee Business Spotlight:

The Deck Beach Bar & Kitchen

The Deck Beach Bar & Kitchen

Tybee is a food-lover’s paradise, flourishing with fresh seafood, classic Southern fares, captivating island views and a host of celebrated eateries where patrons can enjoy it all. Though Tybee is fortunate to have several cornerstone establishments around the isle, the local restaurant scene is dynamic. Restaurants pop up around town every so often, bringing a fresh perspective to the homegrown epicurean narrative. And it’s happening again right now. In the coming week, Tybee diners can welcome a new addition to the island’s culinary community.

the collins quarter

The Collins Quarter first opened on a scenic corner in the heart of Downtown Savannah back in 2014, bringing the essence of Melbourne’s iconic café strip to the Hostess City. The restaurant’s beautiful design, bold espresso bar and farm-to-table offerings have earned The Collins Quarter a well-deserved place among Savannah’s best bistros. And lucky for us, the innovative team behind The Collins Quarter is debuting their latest gastronomic venture here on Tybee.

The Deck Beach Bar & Kitchen

Simply named after the finest feature of the restaurant that stood before it at 404 Butler Ave, The Deck Beach Bar & Kitchen is a casual beach bar serving made-from-scratch plates using fresh, flavorful ingredients. Perfect for diners of all ages and appetites, The Deck opens officially on May 25th; however, eager eaters can preview the restaurant and its eclectic menu at nightly soft openings until the big day.

Restaurateur Steve Hamille describes The Deck as “a blend of beachside bars from around the world – a little Australia, Hawaii and Mexico with a touch of Southern Hospitality.” Sounds like a winner to me. The restaurant concept duly extends to the menu, which boasts worldly street foods from coastal countries across the globe. Many of the plates vaunt an irreverently unique take on traditional island fare, like the aptly-named “Not your grandma’s fish sandwich”, which combines crispy bass, nori sheets and avocado in an unconventional stack that’s sure to satisfy. With items ranging from the “Sapelo island clam chowder” to the “Mexican street dog”, diners will likely find The Deck menu to be concurrently familiar and foreign without failing to deliver on their commitment to bright flavors and fresh ingredients.

In addition to the compelling cuisine, The Deck patrons can look forward to a comprehensive new look and feel. Though it occupies an existing structure, The Deck features a distinct and original design, having undergone significant renovations to convey a lighter, brighter atmosphere. Nevertheless, some things never change. The Deck still beholds the same opulent ocean views that the site is best known for. Combine an updated appearance and a stellar menu with a picturesque seascape, and it’s a guaranteed recipe for success.

Open Thursday through Monday from 12pm to 11pm, The Deck is sure to be a weekend hotspot. The beachside bistro is stocked with a full-service bar, specializing in a wide variety of margaritas and tasty tropical cocktails and mocktails. Pretty much everyone on Tybee knows that great drinks pair well with great music, and The Deck knows it too. The restaurant will host live music several nights a week on their beautiful back patio. Look forward to exciting sets from your favorite local acts.

The Deck is sure to shake up the local dining scene with its international flair and cool, yet casual vibe. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite for lunch, sharing a special meal for dinner or kicking back with friends and a festive cocktail on the patio, you’ll have a time to remember at Tybee’s latest catch. Be sure to follow The Deck on social media for the latest about upcoming specials, performances and all things The Deck.

My husband & I went to The Deck on Fri at noon. First the service was great! Danielle was so attentive. We ordered the Ahi tuna bites & the Chorizo dumplings from the appetizer menu. They were delicious & very fresh. Also, there was enough for the two of us to share. The Mojito I ordered was the best one that I have ever had in my life. We will definitely be going back in June. We highly recommend this restaurant.
