Tybee Business Spotlight:
Famous for their iconic sea turtle logo, Latitude 32 is the place to shop for leisure apparel, accessories and specialty items on Tybee Island. Owner Jennifer Drazek sought out to open up a shop that reflected the Tybee lifestyle and celebrated the island community. To that end, she debuted Latitude 32 at the Tybee Island Pirate Fest in June 2007. The success from that event helped Latitude 32 open its first brick-and-mortar location at Tybee Oaks in April 2008. Over the last decade, Latitude 32 has become a mainstay of the island commerce, outfitting Tybee, Savannah and the surrounding area with quality beachwear and more.
The shop’s unique name arose from Drazek’s watercraft enthusiasm and the island’s geographic location: “Being [an] avid boater and sailor, latitude and longitude seemed a natural tie to the beach and Tybee, as Tybee is located at exactly 32 degrees north latitude.” From their own special location on Highway 80, Latitude 32 vends a variety of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing to include polos, tees and sweatshirts all embossed with the famous sea turtle logo. The turtle can be found atop the shop’s baseball caps, visors, totes and koozies too. Boasting several options in a variety of colors, Latitude 32 has something for everyone in search of comfortable resort wear that reflects the island spirit.
Latitude 32 is a proud vendor of American-made goods, so shoppers can feel good about the fact that their dollars bolster both the local and the national economies. If the quality clothing and local business appeal aren’t reason enough to stop by, potential shoppers should know that Latitude 32 is all about customer appreciation. Drazek recognizes the crucial role that customers have played in the business’ longevity and continued success: “We have grown . . . with the loyal support of both locals and visitors who come back to see us every time they visit Tybee.” To express gratitude, Latitude 32 offers a 10% local discount to customers on the island and throughout the greater Savannah area every single day. And, patrons can enjoy additional seasonal discounts throughout the year.
Drazek sees expansion on the horizon for Latitude 32. Shoppers in Hilton Head, Charleston, Beaufort and beyond may very well see a location opening up near them in the future. In the meantime, Drazek encourages long standing patrons and newcomers alike to stop by the Tybee Oaks location: “Please come out to see us, even just to say ‘hey’!” Be sure to follow the shop on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the latest sales, specials and happenings at Latitude 32.
