2020 Mardi Gras Tybee

Tybee is a natural setting for the Mardi Gras event due to its unique character and fun-loving residents.
The event will encompass the traditions of Mardi Gras, an event with origins dating back to the ancient Romans and carried on today in cities such as Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. Mardi Gras is held on the last day before the start of Lent.
Tybee will be dressed in an array of purple, gold and green flags depicting the Tybee Island Mardi Gras celebration. Mardi Gras Tybee will include the Mardi Gras Tybee Parade, the Mardi Gras Tybee Street Party featuring free live entertainment and more.

Mardi Gras Tybee Parade
Celebrate Mardi Gras as our festive, family-friendly parade rolls down Butler Avenue onto Tybrisa Street.
Parade time is 2 pm on Saturday, the route will begin at Memorial Park and follow Butler Avenue to Tybrisa to the Round-about. After the parade will be a costume contest in which the winners will be crowned the 2020 Mardi Gras Tybee King and Queen! The King and Queen will then host the street dance fun with music!
Spectators: the parade will travel south on Butler and head towards the beach on Tybrisa Street. Be sure to visit the local shops and restaurants as you’re waiting to catch your beads.
All Parade Floats will line up on 4th Street at Memorial Park.
